Zombies Monsters Robots review

Shoot anything and everything!

From the developers of Gears of War (GoW), Zombies Monsters Robots is an exhilarating MMOTPS (Third person shooter) game with plenty of zombies, monsters and robots... now also available with dinosaurs! It features exciting co-op PvE as well as PvP battles that will surely get your adrenaline rushing! The game also contains a lot of game mechanics that seem to be ported from GoW too! if you're looking for the ultimate 'shoot and kill everything' experience, Zombies Monsters Robots is definitely the game for you!

Game rating: 8/10

Pros:

  • Excellent co-op PvE game modes with 4 difficulty settings
A few notable modes include assault (3-5 players) and massive assault (up to 8 players), whereby players will need to stop the waves of onslaught by a variety of mobs; ops missions, in which you'll be fighting mobs in a linear fashion, much like campaign mode of shooter games, capped with a challenging boss fight at the end; and lastly, the kill everything 1 and 2 modes, whereby
  •  Very nice match customization for PvP
You can change how many players you want to include in your hosted match, the type and number of objectives to complete in order to win, map type and, of course, any sort of restrictions, like snipers or melee only.
  • In-game currency can be earned at a very satisfying rate.
  • Nice variety of enemies/ mobs
  • Presence of environmental hazards in certain maps
Environmental hazards include dust storms with strong winds that makes running or walking much harder (Map: Area 51), high speed mining carts, overhead signs (you'll need to duck to avoid these), huge spinning blades of an industrial fan and many others!
  • Awesome map designs
You get to fight on top of a rapidly-moving train. It’ll intermittently go through tunnels that will turn the in-game surroundings into inky darkness. Trying to push an assault during this time may be tough since it can be pretty hard to see the enemies.
  • The guns that the enemies carry (like flamethrowers and rocket launchers) will be dropped when they are killed. You can pick them up and use them!
  • Rather extensive character customisation available - This feature is rare among MMO shooter games.
  • The game is now available with DINOSAURS!

Cons:

  • Requires extensive map and environment hazard awareness
If you have no idea what you're doing, you'll probably die a lot when you first started the game.
  • Unconventional controls
Instead of 'shift', you will be using 'spacebar' to sprint. Double tapping spacebar will make your character roll while tapping spacebar near an obstacle will make your character take cover behind it. For snipers, instead of right clicking to use your scope, you'll need to right click and then press the middle button... troublesome, I know. Furthermore, reloading is much different than just pressing 'R'. Whenever you reload, there's a meter with a fast-moving indicator and a narrow white part on it. You'll need to tap 'R' again when the indicator reaches the white part to reload faster and get a boost to your gun's damage. However, if you missed, your gun will get jammed and it'll take ages to un-jam it... so don't miss!
  • Guns are NOT permanent - Even if you use premium currency to buy them!!
  • Are reportedly pay-to-win in PvP - some weapon mods in the shop are premium currency only.

Meh:

  • There are daily missions that you can do to earn rep which can be used to buy boosts and some random guns.
  • Averagely standard PvP modes like team deathmatch, free for all and others.

Tips and other comments:

- My advice is to avoid PvP is you dislike getting killed over and over by players with much superior gear. It's co-op PvE is seriously awesome and you should check it out if you plan to get this game installed!
