SimCity: Build It! review

Build your own massive metropolis from the ground up in this exciting city-building mobile game, SimCity: Build It!

One of the most addictive city-building app developed to date, SimCity: Build It! allows you to unleash the mayor in you! Trade or craft materials to build and upgrade the residence of your people. Keep your population happy by building parks, keeping them away from pollution and providing important utilities. Don't forget to upgrade your roads as well from time to time to allow your Sims to avoid traffic jams! Under your wise leadership, your tiny town will become a thriving metropolitan in no time!

Game rating: 10/10

Pros:

  • Free to play
  • Relaxed gameplay
  • Realistic day and night cycle
  • Very beautiful and detailed graphics
I particularly like how the vehicles on the road will adhere to the signals from the traffic lights
  • Not pay to win
You can earn SimCash by earning achievements and all expansion materials can be obtained in-game
  • Play with friends by linking to your Facebook or Google+ account! You can visit their cities and trade with them too!

Cons:

  • Overly competitive trading
90% of the time, you won't be able to buy that cheap item/s you saw at the trade center because someone beat you to it, but for selling, it works fine. You can easily sell items listed at their maximum prices.
  • Can get very hard to expand land or your storage space later on.

Meh:

  • A lot of utilities that you will have to take care of. Some may like the complexity of the game (it stays true to the SimCity series), some may find it to be a huge deterrent.

Tips and other comments:

You can build astonishingly huge cities without paying a single cent and it's good that the game does not penalises you if you didn't build any of the specialisation buildings (which cost 40k each!).

Do note that this game is not intended to be played continuously for several hours. Just play it for around 30 mins per session and perhaps 3 or more sessions per day, and you'll see what I mean.
